Playing with the dogs, going for walks, watching movies, playing video games — we’ve probably been doing the same things as many other people who are self-distancing right now.
But there are a few things that have really brightened our days over the last few days. We have been FaceTiming with my parents fairly regularly (they might live close but we aren’t seeing one another right now).
We played an excellent game of Monopoly online with Andy’s dad, sister, and brother-in-law a few nights ago. And I can say it was excellent because I won my first-ever game of Monopoly that night 🙂 Even if I hadn’t it still would’ve been fun!
We also did a massive group chat with family who lives all over the country.
It was great to see them, even if it was through a screen. But it was just as wonderful to find out how everyone is doing and how things are in the areas in which they live since it’s different from state to state.
Staying connected with people has been essential for us. And most of that essential connection is to disconnect from the craziness of social media and truly check in with people on a personal level. I find myself missing my work peeps and love it when I get a chance to talk to them. The same goes for my family and friends!
Andy and I also took the extra free time to take care of some home projects, including putting up the backsplash in our kitchen. And let me just say this: it looks amazing.
I knew I was going to like it, and I knew it would make a difference, but I didn’t realize just how much I would love it.
It looks like we’ll be out of work for a while longer. Andy has cancelled his work for the next week. One of my jobs is closed entirely and the other one I’m simply out of a job since it hinges on being able to facilitate group gatherings. So, I’m freelancing whenever I can get an assignment, and Andy is working on projects as he is able.
I hope everyone else is doing well! Leave us a comment and let us know what’s keeping you entertained.
